Description

Florelie's Midsummer CSA bouquets are available for weekly or bi-weekly subscriptions, starting around June 12th and running through August 21st.
For our Summer CSA, you can expect to receive bouquets bursting at the seams, as the farm is in full bloom! Bouquets will often include Icelandic and specialty Italian poppies, big, ruffly and fully double lisianthus blooms, dahlias, sweet pea blooms, pastel shades of stock, snapdragons, and larkspur, butterfly and specialty Italian ranunculus, earthy greens, creams and burgundy shades of amaranth, specialty scoop scabiosa, chocolate cosmos, dawn creek specialty zinnias, pro-cut sunflowers, feverview, oriental basil, mountain mint, lavender spikes, and more.

For the 2023 season, we will be offering (for the first time!) the option to purchase an alternative version of our Summer CSA bouquets, which will include all of the aforementioned blooms, plus the addition of roses to your bouquets. Whichever your choice, we know you will love these weekly or bi-weekly "pick-me-up's", in the form of farm fresh, local blooms.

All CSA bouquets are hand-tied and wrapped with love & care in our signature black butcher paper. You'll also receive a care card for suggestions to help your bouquet last as long as possible, as well as a packet of flower food.

Starting this season, all CSA subscribers will receive 20% off of all additional purchases you make with us, throughout the entirety of the season. There is no fine print, no trickery or bait-and-switch; go wild!

Delievery/Pick-up Details
This season, we will (hopefully) be popping up at a few locations of farmers markets around the DC, MD, VA area, weekly. Once we have a better idea of what our schedule will look like for the season, we will be emailing our subscribers who prefer to pick up CSA bouquets, all of the details for weekly/bi-weekly pick-up's.

If you prefer to have your CSA bouquet delivered, please specify this at checkout when purchasing your CSA subscription. We deliever to mostly every zip code in NoVa, including Arlington, Alexandria, Prince William, western Loudoun, and even some areas beyond that (for a nominal fee). We will contact you via your preferred method of contact, a few weeks prior to the subscription start date to confirm these details.

What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. By purchasing one of our CSA subscriptions, you are assisting us with our mission to provide the community with an alternative to the chemically drivers global flower trade. You're also directly supporting our dream to expand the farm, and purchase/rent more local land so that we can expand our offerings to you. Your CSA subscriptions are the backbone of that endeavor.

Did you know approximately 80% of the flowers sold at grocery stores, florist shops, through FTD, and online are actually grown thousands of miles away, most likely in Colombia, Ecuador, Thailand, or Kenya? At last count, Colombia alone accounts for nearly 70% of the flowers imported into the US each day! The government and industry regulations on chemicals, environmental stewardship, and worker rights in Colombia in particular have historically been a far cry from sustainable. Colombian rose farms are literally draining the surrounding region dry, creating a desert wasteland around the farms as their irrigation systems divert rainfall to rose production. Local communities are left without drinking water. The work at the flower farms is intense, the wages small, and the exposure to toxic chemicals significant. A large percentage of workers in past surveys have reported serious work-related illnesses, including infertility, skin conditions, and loss of sight.

Florelie is a local "micro-urban" specialty cut flower & foliage farm, tended to using organic, no-till methods and on a human scale, without machinery. At Florelie, our mission is to grow high quality floral material to contribute towards a regional floral supply, and to provide farmer’s market go-ers, florists, wedding designers, people getting married and other flower loving individuals an alternative to the chemically driven global floral trade.
