Mead Orchards
Farmer
Since 1916, three generations of the Mead family have lived on and operated Mead Orchards LLC tending to a wide variety of tree fruits, berries, and vegetables on 185 picturesque acres in the Mid-Hudson River valley.
Today, the new owner - Scott Blasdell - continue their tradition. Focusing on good land stewardship, plus economic and environmental sustainability, we work to provide you with the freshest and highest quality produce.
The fruits of our labor are available to the public at regional farmers' markets and at the farm on weekends during the harvest season.
Integrated Pest Management
Pest Control Methods: We use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices to assist in many of our on farm decisions regarding pest control. Additionally, our apples are Eco-Apple and peaches are Eco-Peach certified through Red Tomato - an organization which goes further than IPM in regulating what can and cannot be used.
Weed Control Methods: We use a combination of herbicides, mulches, and cultivation.
Water Management Methods: We exclusively use Drip Irrigation to keep from over watering.
