Established in 2016, Commonplace Books is an independent bookstore in Midtown, Oklahoma City. We love books and people - not afraid to display the old with the new, we carry an eclectic, highly curated selection of books with a broad range of appeal. We also carry two custom candle scents hand poured locally, as well as other giftable items like puzzles and Appointed notebooks & planners.

Founded by a priest, a developer, and a professor, Commonplace Books is managed by Jacob Carr, a PhD student at the University of Columbia. Husband and dad of 3, Jacob takes his jobs as book curator very serious, but is also enjoying his new hobby as plant caretaker at the store. Sarah is our events manager, and she oversees the day to day operations on location at the store on North Walker Avenue. She is a wife and mom of 6, who can get lost in all the details of organizing the bookstore and website, so sometimes has to take a day off just to create a mess with fabric and glitter and paint (maybe some of those creations will end up decorating a pop up?).
