Rita grew up right in the heart of Miami, a stone’s throw away from Little Havana and the famous Calle Ocho. While attending college in Gainesville, FL she visited and fell in love with the south and it’s affinity for butter. In 2014, she left the capital of South America and moved further north (or deeper south depending on who you ask) to Nashville, Tennessee; trading in her black beans and rice for bourbon and biscuits. While working as the operations director at a local candy company she realized it was more than just a job. The happiness she felt during the creative process in the kitchen and the overall joy food brings to people are her motivators. Keeping in mind that if you do what you love you never work a day in your life, she decided to launch The Salty Cubana.
