Katelyn's Pocket Pillows
Material Goods/Craft/Flea/Art
I was 14 years old, and had just completed a high school sewing class when I found out that my grandpa (who lived in Texas at that time) had become bedridden, and was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I wanted to send him something special that he could keep close, so I put my new (novice) skills to work, and made him a pillowcase with a pocket where I also enclosed a prayer cloth, and a letter in hopes that it would bring him comfort.
After that project, a family member suggested that I also make "tooth-fairy" pillows as gifts since I enjoy working with children.
My pocket pillows, and pillow cases are made with care in consideration of providing comfort and joy during various stages in life.
Katelyn Eddins
I am a teenage student, concurrently enrolled in both high school and college courses working towards a career as a Physician's Assistant. I come from a tight knit family/support group of business owners and public service professionals.
My aunt owns a salon in Old Town Murrieta, and I have been afforded the privilege of working there for her part time. My Uncle is a police officer for the city of Murrieta, and has been a wonderful example to me. My father is a superintendent for a home builder, and also has his own business as a home inspector. My mother runs both a learning center for independent study TK-12th grade students, as well as a small private school. My brother is a wild-land firefighter, and engages in a lot of physical training to qualify for his position. This amazing family support group has instilled a strong work ethic in me; some simultaneously being both employees and business owners themselves, so there was no hesitation for me when given the opportunity to do the same.
