About
Our mission is to curate content that is fun, intentional, educational, and empowers children. Like a tiny sprout that grows from a small seedling into a mature, fully developed plant, children need attention, love, and the essential nutrients to thrive. Hence, the name Seed of Melanin!
We spotlight and uplift Black history in simple and entertaining ways.
We started with a simple idea to make books where the main characters look like our daughter. Since our initial idea, we’ve been working diligently to bring our vision to life with stickers, apparel, children’s books, coloring books, writing journals, educational videos, and much more!

We want to be an example to our children so they have the blueprint to follow their dreams of maybe one day being an entrepreneur. We want them to know the importance of entrepreneurship and service to others despite the obstacles and hard work required.
Balancing full-time jobs with two toddlers is challenging because you have to be patient and flexible. We’re extremely fortunate to have the children’s grandmother living with us right now to help us navigate our busy household.
We have spent many late nights and early mornings while the children are asleep, coming up with new products, designing our whiteboard videos, printing stickers, responding to emails, running our social media, and packaging orders.
