The love of Norwegian Kringla started as a child. My grandmother always had kringla for the holidays and we would load it with butter, as all Norwegians do. I was never interested in making it until my husband's grandmother had a family day around the kitchen table to teach all that wanted to try, to make kringla. She had the dough already made, we were just going to be rolling it out and then baking it. That seemed fairly easy. WRONG. That was one of the most frustrating days of baking that I had ever had. Making kringla is nothing like rolling a pretzel. There is an art and feel to it. Something that I did not have a knack for. For many years I was determined that I was NEVER going to make it again. However, as the years passed and the memory faded and grandma died, I decided to give it another try. It worked! My family began enjoying it for our Christmas time and birthdays. It became our tradition. I had been making the almond flavored kringla for many years but in 2017 I felt a prompting to go on a mission trip to Haiti. It was out of the need to generate funds for the trip that my artisan kringla was created. My flavors include Almond, Vanilla, Apple Pie, Blueberry, Cinnamon Roll, Cheese Cake, Cream Cheese, Lemon Poppy Seed and Red Velvet. It has become a huge hit. Samples are always supplied as you experience out New Twist on an Old Knot!

We are also expanding to include our Oil Press Off the Grid items which currently include our start up spreads that have versatile uses, such as a glaze, cheese topper, condiment or as a jam. Meat and vegetable seasonings along with BBQ sauces are in the works to be included in Off the Grid line. You will get the same great flavors as you've grown to expect from the Oil Press BBQ Diner just now it is "off the grid since it's closing". Same great flavors, tastes and quality.
