Forge and Fiber Works
Vendor
Forge and Fiber Works offers handmade heirloom quality products in the form of textile and iron work. Our workshops are located in the foothills of Mt. Hood. The vibrant mountain range and lush forest offer inspiration and sanctuary during the crafting process. All our textiles are woven by hand, either using floor looms or backstrap technique. Forge work is performed at the historic BullRun Powerhouse, which was decommissioned in 2008 and is now a living museum and makerspace. Forge and Fiber Works offers private and group lessons to youths and adults. We are proud to be part of an international community dedicated to sharing artisan knowledge.
Pele Warnock
Forge and Fiber Works is owned and operated by Pele Warnock. Pele is a craftswoman who was raised in Portland and currently resides in Marmot Oregon. Pele balances her time in the mountains between weaving, blacksmithing, foraging, and gardening. She first learned weaving while attending Da Vinci Arts Middle School. In 2017 she once again took up the loom and taught herself the art of weaving. She now has two floor looms in her home where she weaves fibers into strong and beautiful fabrics, designed to last for generations. Pele started blacksmithing in 2016; since then she has forged with friends and mentors internationally, and aided local communities to grow. This marks the third year she has served as a board member for the Northwest Blacksmith Association.
Pele learned backstrap weaving in Peru, natural plant dyeing and cotton spinning in India, and coal forging in Sweden and Denmark. She has worked with local fabricators, and taught in Germany at the Von Hand Festival.
Through years of hard work Pele is pleased to be fully self-employed by Forge and Fiber Works. In the years to come she intends to produce functional art, teach classes, and remain ever inquisitive and passionate for the growth of knowledge and community.
