About

Lil’ Monsters Plushies, based in Pullman, WA, features a line of handmade stuffed creatures designed by me, Cat Dippell. My original designs are playful and lovable. Some of my creatures include a furry “Hairball” cat, a cute fleece and furry “Diablo” in many sizes, and “Cats in Chaps”. I also created a line called “Farm to Fable”, which are fruits and veggies that reflect the Moscow Farmers’ Market agricultural focus. The “Lil’ Carrot”, “Sugar Snap Peas” and “Grouchy Gherkin” are some Market favorites.

Each piece I create is a whimsical representation of an idea I’ve developed. Starting with the idea, I sketch some designs, then draw a paper pattern which is transferred to fabric. The prototype is sewn and design alterations are made to fine tune the final product. When I’m happy with the creature’s “look”, I produce it in many different colors. Each creature is individually made, giving it a unique look.

My creatures are made from locally sourced fleece, faux fur and a variety of repurposed materials. I purchase my fabric from various local stores in Latah, Nez Pierce, Asotin and Whitman Counties. I also use new and repurposed materials found in thrift stores, yard sales and my own closets. I incorporate upcycled fabric and clothing in some of my designs, breathing new life into these items. The “Vintage Owl” is made using old sweaters, afghans and vintage fabric. In further efforts to be environmentally responsible, I create creatures from the fabric scraps to eliminate any waste. One of my best selling items, the “Dust Mite” is made from leftover materials. I use eco-friendly stuffing made from recycled materials to support better sustainability in my products.
