About

Our craft is woodworking and custom building, with a focus on design and wood finishing. Josh is the builder/woodworker/creative genius behind all of our pieces, and Carley assists with the finishing process, marketing, and networking strategies. We create custom pieces made from local specialty hardwoods for individuals looking to bring rustic and handmade charm into their home or work space.

Specializing in charcuterie boards, cheese trays, and end grain cutting boards, we’ve been able to hone-in and perfect this craft, while still building larger furniture pieces and built-ins for our local clients. All of the wood for our projects is sourced from local Tennessee lumber yards, and by the occasional tree we’ve either cut down ourselves, or had taken to the mill. Recent wood pieces originate from our local Rhea County area as well as a few rare hardwoods sourced from North Georgia.

Each individual piece of potential material is checked for quality, grain consistency, and absence of knots or imperfections. We take great care to select material with character and unique qualities. From here, the material comes back to our shop, where the milling process begins, as we only purchase rough-cut lumber. Pieces are all planed, sanded, and squared. Once a project is selected, we pick material based on individual characteristics as suitable to the project. The project is meticulously cut and built, condemning any piece with perceived imperfections to the scrap pile along the way.

For the finishing process, we sand all surfaces to a minimum grit of 220, and pick the finish that best reflects the overall characteristics of the project. Cutting and Charcuterie Boards, as well as all kitchen utensils and accessories, are finished with mineral oil and food-safe beeswax conditioner to enhance their natural beauty. Furniture pieces and home decor are finished with products ranging from matte to high-gloss and include all finishes from wax to varnish, depending on the piece.

Manager

Joshua Bond & Carley Tatum
Joshua Bond spent his younger growing years working apprenticeships in carpentry, home building, construction, and real estate. As an younger adult, he found huge success in the area of Sales for 15+ years. Currently, he owns and operates his own woodworking and custom building business using rough-cut specialty hardwoods. Carley is his wife and business partner, and assists with the finishing process and with all marketing and networking opportunities. Prior to serving this role, Carley worked as an Aesthetic RN performing Botox and Juvederm fillers in a medical spa in the Tri Cities of North Carolina.

Due to their marriage and a subsequent advancement/relocation for Carley's nursing career, they temporarily moved to coastal North Carolina, where Josh decided to pursue the selling of LGI homes based on that current market's needs and his love of selling/promoting a product he is interested in or passionate about. While there, he quickly discovered a love of custom building and woodworking that soon grew from a hobby, to a side hustle, to a full time job opportunity.

In 2020, choosing to leave his corporate experience and years of sales experience behind, Joshua Bond put 100% of his effort into woodworking and custom building. We left our jobs, sold our coastal home, paid off all of our debt, and put everything we had into the creation of this business model. We relocated to the wonderful and free state of Tennessee, where we currently live in a home with our 5 dogs, and with our custom build business already exploding with success.
