Art in the Park is a brand new interactive, community art series hosted by wife/husband team Shelley Mackinnon and Colin Ryan. These pop-up collaborative art events are for New Haven families who frequent Edgewood Park a few Sunday mornings over the summer. This series is designed to with the intent to connect community members with their "inner artist" and to just have a little fun! Each event involves a different theme and activities that are great for both kids and adults.

Art in the Park is hosted by New Haveners Shelley Mackinnon and Colin Ryan. Shelley has an extensive background in elementary education and child development, with passions for kids, art, design and music. She is an active community member who currently serves on the board of CT Folk and tutors at New Haven Reads. Colin was born and raised in the Westville neighborhood of New Haven. He is devoted to this city and is constantly seeking out ways to improve this place that he loves.
Prior to the pandemic, Shelley and Colin sponsored a Young Artist Award for three consecutive years that allowed young students from a New Haven elementary school to attend a local art academy. They also run a local business called Elm City Homes, LLC, raise their two-year-old son, and are expecting another little boy very soon!
