Hi, my name is Amy, and I reside in Alexandria, with my spouse Chris, aka "Stinkie". Stinkie loves his yard, and did landscaping, and lawn service as a side hustle for many years. With that came an aroma, that was not always so welcoming. When our son was small, he started referring to his dad as "Stinkie" when he would come home. They would banter back and forth on who the Stinky one was, but unfortunately for Chris, the name stuck. Years later, I once again started creating items, as a release from a long day at work. I enjoyed creating designs, as it allowed me a creative outlet for my A.D.D. Along with that, I have a bit of a "hoarder disorder", and did I mention Stinkie is a bit O.C.D? Therefore, I would gift items to friends, coworkers and family, as not to create more "clutter" around the home. People began asking about my creations, with a desire to purchase from me. I explained to Stinkie, I was unsure if my items were good enough to sell, and he replied, "Stinkie approves” and that is where the "Stinkie approved" line developed. Since, I have been able to resign from my 30 years in the medical field, and my supportive Stinkie, has encouraged me to follow my dream. My intention was to go back on the road, as I did many years ago, prior to the popularity of Farmer's Markets, and attend various festivals around the area peddling my goods. Covid had another plan. So, in 2020, we opened a brick and mortar in downtown Alexandria, specializing in Spirit wear, and Community Memorabilia, as well as other handmade, as well as boutique items. Last year, as restrictions began to lift, we were able to venture out to various communities, and enjoy meeting others with the same dreams. We look forward, to participating in this year’s festivities, and are so grateful for those working behind the scenes, to support the makers, and our communities.
