I was born in Detroit and sent to Cameroon for school in my early teens and would come back every summer like the rest of my close friends and family. However, one summer that didn't happen, so I was left alone with no one but my three Aunts and my PSP that I played 24/7. Unfortunately one day my PSP broke on me, and to get it fixed I had to pay 20,000 CFA (a lot of money) and there was no way my aunts would pay that for a stupid game I'm always distracted by, and I didn't want to ask my Dad because I knew he felt the same way. Walking out of the repair shop with my head down i saw some kids selling a common hibiscus-based juice on the streets called "Flolere". A tart sweet drink made from flowers that people loved to drink cold on a hot day and hot during a cold night. When I saw that crowd surrounding the kids handing them money, I had my lightbulb moment. I walked over to the market around the corner and used the money I thought would be enough to fix my PSP and bought 2 huge bags of hibiscus flowers, took the first taxi I saw the home, and got to work. I wanted to make something that would be different and make me stand out, so I used a combination of honey and sugar with fruits like Mangos, Guava, coconut water, Pineapples, and oranges to make the perfect drink and it was amazing. I sanitized a bunch of random water bottles I collected and hit the streets next day and they sold like crazy. Adults and kids were asking all sorts of questions like what my name was or the name of the Juice and I told them AZA which became the drinks name and my alias. In 3 weeks, I made double the money I needed to fix my PSP, so I fixed it and blew the rest on food and electronics. Summer came to an end, and I was back in boarding school and when the year ended, I was back to the USA forgetting all about it. Fast forward to 2021 I took atrip to Egypt alone where I toured the whole country and made a friend who invited me to his home and served me this tea cold and it was delicious. He told me the rich soil of the dessert and this being the more uncommon strain of hibiscus being the reason and described all the benefits like its ability to lower blood pressure and blood sugar. Upon tasting, another lightbulb moment happened. I went to the nearest farm in Aswan bought as much Hibiscus as I could and brought it back to the USA with me and got to experimenting again. I poured the finished product into sanitized bottles and took it to work, and they loved it and that’s what set off my journey once again. To bring that magic and life changing benefits from Egypt home to share with the people of Detroit.
