Lovell’s 31 is a boutique dessert shop offering a variety of decadent bread puddings. It’s not your mother’s or your grandmothers … it’s sweet, it’s light, simply indulgent. While is conveys a sense of nostalgia, it will leave you with a feeling of comfort, like a warm blanket wrapping you in love. Each variety comes with a unique dipping sauce crafted to enhance its taste. You may just want to drink it from the bottle but don’t, its best served with its complementary dessert.
My passion for bread pudding started when my dad would take the family to Old Country Buffet after church on Sundays for dinner. They made this amazing bread pudding with a creamy white sauce. I found myself going just for the bread pudding and decided I needed to try my hand at it. I started with something basic. I knew I didn’t want the “slum dum” that my mother and grandmother made … sorry mom. As a young girl, I really enjoyed it, but I was going for a different taste and texture.
So, I started experimenting and eventually landed on a recipe I loved. Later, I added a banana and a new bread pudding was born! I started getting requests for bread pudding from my family especially my son, Vaughn, loved it, and so did his friends. One day, I came across a casting call for deep fried foods. The Destination America Network’s (a Discovery Channel) new reality TV show, Deep Fried Masters. The show was centered on uniquely crafted, deep-fried foods that are typically sold on the midway, i.e., state fairs, carnivals, etc. The show featured competitors deep frying their masterpieces at The Kansas City State Fair in 30-minute increments. At the urging of my son, I entered the contest and surprise, surprise, I won 1st place in the first round for my bread pudding and the rest is history.
I make a variety of bread puddings including Deep Fried Banana Bread Pudding, Spicy Hot Chocolate, Maple Bacon, and many more.
