Rangoon Bistro is a collaboration between two chefs, Alex Saw, and Nick Sherbo, specializing in the distinctive foods of Myanmar, (formerly Burma.) Alex was born and raised in Rangoon Burma and has been cooking professionally in south east Asia, Europe, and portland since the age of sixteen. Alex is the first and only person from Burma to offer authentic burmese cuisine to the people of Portland. Nick Sherbo was born in portland Oregon and has worked for some of the city's most popular restaurants as a chef and kitchen manager. Most recently Nick was the sous chef at Bollywood Theater and is now the manager of Matt's BBQ. The food of Myanmar is very seasonal and vegetable focused. We believe this makes it an ideal cuisine to have at the farmers market. We will source our ingredients from the farm vendors and be able to show market goers interesting new ways to use vegetables that are available at the market.
Because of our long history as professional chefs we take great care in our handling of food, both in our care with the quality of the ingredients we choose to use and in our sanitation practices. We are certified by Multnomah county's safe food handling standards.
