DANIEL LOONEY ARTIST STATEMENT:
Dan Looney – I Paint Idaho!
I am celebrating 50 years of painting professionally and promoting my unique style of artwork that I call Whimsical Realism on social media and at events. I have created almost 3000 paintings and projects since 1975. My paintings are mixed media of Idaho landscapes, cityscapes and surrounding areas created with an imaginative eye and unique perspective. A significant component of my artistic career has been through participating in Art in the Park since 1976. I am very honored to have received a 2018 Idaho Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts for Painting and Entrepreneurship. I also received a 2020 Silver and Gold Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Idaho. I have conducted workshops and donated my time and talents for many Idaho non-profits including College of Idaho, hospital foundations, the Idaho Centennial and many other events since 1975. I have been a member of the Capital City Public Market for fifteen years and served on the Board. I look forward to creating my own style of artwork for others to enjoy in the years to come!
