Just about every culture has some sort of hand pie on its short list of beloved comfort foods, from empanadas to calzones to pasties. In Accra, Ghana, markets are lined with vendors selling these savory delicacies, which are one of the country’s most popular street foods.

In August 2020, Welle Made Co. was established to introduce a new collection of savory, artisanal hand pies made from scratch and in small batches. These hand pies, inspired by West African cuisine, spark connectedness and fun memories among consumers.

To date, our flaky, buttery-crusted hand pies and galettes have been indulged by thousands of consumers in the DC metro area and nationwide. We offer meat-based and vegetarian options, and are launching a new line of vegan options this winter.
