Smyly Farms is a 1st generation small farm that focuses on land stewardship and regenerative farming practices.
We Pasture raise Pekin Ducks for meat, hy-line brown Chickens for eggs , and grow season vegetables.
The owner, Michael Gault, is a recent UGA sustainable food production alumni. He has operated the farm while in college and leased land at various certified organic farms to get hands on experience in the field.
Smyly farms attends a few farmers markets in the Atlanta and Athens area such as Oakhurst farmers market, freedom farmers market, and Athens farmers markets.
Our farm supplements the livestock with Certified Organic Feed to ensure we never expose our animals to feed that has been grown with any synthetic fertilizers , herbicides or pesticides.
Pastured Use Only Organic Materials Holistic Management Antibiotic And Hormone Free
Our chickens and ducks are moved to fresh grass constantly, as we ensure they always have a clean foraging area. We use electric fencing to contain our flocks and have automatic feeders. We supplement our water with probiotics, poultry vitamins and use only certified organic feed.
Michael Gault
I’m a recent UGA horticulture alumni Who received my B.S.A in May of 2021. I emphasized in sustainable food production; so my degree focused on becoming a Sustainable Farm Owner.
Having leased land at different organic farms, I have learned a multiple of sustainable food production areas.
I began growing no till vegetables in May of 2014, then began raising pastured poultry on a certified organic farm in 2019, and currently finishing my final lease; as I begin to move onto my forever Farm property.
My dedication is sustainability and organic farming really shows through our Farm’s Market appearance, the food we produce , and the positive morale we carry.
We hope to become a model for other 1st generation young farmers who are dedicated to sustainable food production and land stewardship.
