Motor City Micros is an urban farm in metro Detroit that grows microgreens, shoots, herbs, and edible flowers using healthy, earth friendly farming practices and products.
Non Gmo Holistic Management Extended Growing Season
Our plants are grown in organic soil blended with coconut coir and enhanced with organic earthworm castings. We source heirloom and organic seeds as much as possible, and we never use genetically engineered seeds or apply toxic chemicals onto the plants. To help ensure the healthiest and freshest greens possible, we harvest by hand to minimize damage to the crops and aim to deliver produce within 24 hours of harvest.
Motor City Micros (MCM) founder and owner Beth Fitzgerald is an environmental justice activist and urban farmer. For three decades, she has worked on issues ranging from toxic pollution and global warming to sustainable seafood and the creation of robust national organic food standards. From 2019 through 2020, Beth was farm manager at ECO City Farms, a not-for-profit near Washington DC, where she oversaw farm operations and produce marketing, and led ECO’s experiential learning program for aspiring urban farmers.
