ATX Homemade Jerky
Specialty Food Artisan
Chris began making his own beef jerky with his dad in 2002. They learned how to make it together for their trips to the cabin in the northern woods of Wisconsin. Throughout High School and College, Chris experimented with his own flavor combinations.
After moving to Austin, TX in 2013, Chris met his neighbors and had many BBQ’s with them. One night at a neighborhood cookout Chris decided to share some of his signature jerky, and within two weeks they convinced him to begin selling it. Partnering with one of his neighbors, Gregg, the two set out on dominating the jerky world.
At first, they mainly sold to co-workers, but after a month they started at their first farmer’s market. Within seven months, Gregg had quit his day job to work with ATX Jerky full time, and ran about 8 farmer’s markets a week. At nine months, Chris joined Gregg running ATX Jerky together, and after a year they moved into their own commercial kitchen in Elgin, TX, operating at about 15 farmer’s markets weekly.
Today, with Gregg retired, Chris runs the business with his wife, Cohrin, and a small staff. They are proud to bring you homemade style jerky at many of the Austin farmer’s markets, their retail store in Elgin, TX, several Central Texas retail stores, and ship it straight to your door in all 50 states.
