Golden Harvest Oil
Vendor
Our farm is neighbors to the Powhatan State Park. In 2019 we added sunflowers to our crop rotation, in order to have another way our children could choose to be involved in agriculture. It has been a fun venture to produce a farm to table product.
Once we harvest the sunflowers; we have them cleaned; then they are then ready to be pressed. We use the cold-pressed extraction process to remove the oil from the seeds so there are no solvents involved. We also do not winterize our product. As a result, there may be a small amount of sunflower wax at the bottom of the bottle which does not affect the cooking quality or the flavor. After the oil is pressed we put into bottles which we've label prior to filling.
There are three types of sunflower oil; high oleic, mid oleic, and linoleic. The most common sunflower oil is linoleic oil (20% monounsaturated fat). High Oleic Sunflower Oil is 80% monounsaturated fat. The naturally high stability of high oleic oils increases fry and shelf life. Vitamin E levels are also three times greater than olive oil.
Non Gmo
Through standard breeding techniques this sunflower oil is naturally NON-GMO.
We do not use chemicals on the sunflowers, however we are not certified organic.
