Beauty and broken are normally not considered in the same dimension of art or life, but their unexpected intersection redefines both in a transformative experience. Shells and other objects are broken and reduced by the powerful forces of the ocean against the sand. Like the broken shells, we are broken people. Even though waves of difficulty toss each of us, we still have immense value, beauty and strength. God picks us up with love that can restore, give hope and eternal life. The results may not be what we originally imagined for our life or situation. However, it can be beautiful if we are willing to see His design.
Every aspect of the found objects...the colors, size, texture, movement, and impressions...invite the resulting designs. The shell forms, sea glass, etc. are incorporated "as is" without further fabrication. These one-of-a-kind designs invite the viewer to linger and contemplate their unexpected beauty.
