About

Hi everyone!
My name is Rachel and I own "The Sassy Vegan" bakery. We operate out of Cook Spring Shared Kitchen in Fort Wayne that is certified & inspected by the Board of Health. I'm also Servsafe Certified; and take food safety extremely serious. Just ask any of my former co-workers 😂 I'm annoyingly anal about cross-contamination, cleanliness and all things personal hygiene.

I've been eating plant based since 2012 and went vegan in 2014.
All the items I make are 100% plant based (vegan) & free of gluten products. The kitchen I use is a shared space and is not Gluten-Free Certified. That's why my items are labeled specifically "gluten-sensitive" even though I don't use gluten in any items 😊

I started this venture back in February 2020 just for a fun side gig. By the time August rolled around, I had fallen in love and finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up😉 "The Sassy Vegan" is my full time job now (if you can call living your dream a "job").

Everything we make is crafted in small batches and mixed by hand to ensure quality and taste. So you get that home cooked feel even though we are a commercial bakery.

When I'm not pouring tons of love into my Sassy Treats, you can usually find my nose in a book (in 2019 alone I read 100). Or I'm spending time with my fur baby Ginger and husband of 6 years Jeffery (he's seriously the best goofy weirdo a woman could ask for and balances out my anxious over achiever perfectionist brian)😍

I'm the oldest of 10 kids; 6 of which are adopted. So adoption and foster care have a special place in my heart. We plan on becoming foster-to-adopt parents in a few years and in the meantime I volunteer as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children in the system. If you would like more info on becoming an advocate or supporting the program financially I'd LOVE to chat with you!
