Knit Sew Fabulous

My name is Lynette Hunter Halalay. I am the founder of Knit Sew Fabulous and Green Lennie Altered Couture, and have been working in the Eastern Detroit area since 2010. Knit Sew Fabulous offers one of a kind custom garment in knits and fabric, while Green Lennie offers alterations, custom design using vintage fabric and yarn. Through my work connecting with the textile culture of the public, I’ve found that there is a community need for a fabric store in Detroit. To address this need, I have created Green Lennie vintage which sources textiles from estate sales, private collections and personal stashes in order to redistribute them to other creatives in the community. I l had several pop up sales over the summer, which have been very successful in terms of cultivating new connections to our communities, as well as fostered a better understanding of what our communities need.
