Althea Bread is a small production bakery and stone mill in Charlottesville, VA. We mill the majority of our flour ourselves from whole grains grown in Virginia and surrounding states. Our specialty is sourdough bread, and we also offer freshly milled flour and small selection of cookies and pastries.

Hi, I'm Marian. I have a background in research biology, but a love of good food and a passion for experimenting with locally grown grains led me to establish Althea Bread in 2018. Today I run the bakery full time along with my wife Susan. We believe that when made in a conscious way, bread can be a healthy and delicious part of our diet. We absolutely love what we do, and we are glad to be able to share the goodness of fresh flour and local whole grains with all of you.
