About

My creative medium is pottery that I decorate with natural scenery like the mountains, desert, and plants all local to Utah. My work is made of clay thrown on a pottery wheel, dried, then hand carved and hand painted with careful detail to represent the inspired landscape. Many of my pieces I also make from marbled clay, combining white, grey, and red clay to create beautiful striations that represent the landscapes in Southern Utah. I enjoy mixing and layering glazes, combining between 2-5 types to create unique colors and textures. I started making pottery when I was a child, in a small studio my mom created in her basement. My inspiration for my designs was born from growing up at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Utah. My grandfather was a pioneer for the development of the ski industry in North America and my father also worked up in the mountains for over 30 years. They taught me how to love the outdoors, I was raised in the Wasatch mountains with frequent trips to the desert. These adventures are where I gain most of my inspiration. Most of my adventures are accompanied by a journal where I sketch the beauty around me, then bring that journal into the pottery studio to decorate my pottery with those scenes. The designs I create on my pottery are all inspired from adventures I’ve taken into nature. My goal is to give others the joy of having a favorite local peak or butte on their own functional and unique piece of pottery and bring some adventure into the home!

I've had the opportunity to participate in the last 2 seasons of this fun market (excluding last year of course) and would love to be a part of it again! I was born in Sandy, Utah and have been creating pottery since I was little in a small studio my mother has in her basement. In my free time you can usually find me outside hiking in our mountains or working in my garden!
