Steel & Rye is a full service restaurant in operation since 2012. We are located in the Lower Mills neighborhood of Milton, MA which has a rich food history including being home to America’s first water powered grist mill. Our menu at Steel & Rye has long showcased handmade pastas, breads and pizza dough featuring New England producers of organic and heirloom grains and flour. After many years of research and experimentation to develop the products we serve, it was a natural progression to develop a full scale bakery to share these items we are so passionate about with a larger audience. From within Steel & Rye we launched S&R Bakery in July of 2020. We source our flour from New England producers such as Maine Grains and Ground Up Grain, both pioneers in a movement to return high quality, locally grown and ground grains to the diet of New Englanders.

From the get go our bread loaves - baguette, sourdough, seeded sourdough, seeded danish rye, olive & walnut, ciabatta and sandwich bread have been highly sought after by our guests. We’ve rounded out our bakery offerings with pastry classics such as traditional croissant, ham & cheese croissant, muffins, scones, banana bread, coffee cake, cookies and doughnuts.

As we increase our production capabilities we are excited to bring our selection of artisanal breads and pastries, prepared sandwiches, house made sauces, dressings, dips and granola to a wider audience through the local markets we love to shop at.
