Relic

Relic is a newly launched handmade jewelry brand, so the Holiday gift market would be my first market event and I do not yet have photographs from a previous show. I have instead created at home a full mock-up of my planned market display using my actual inventory, branded table covering, and display fixtures, and I have attached several photographs for the committee’s review. Please note that the earring cards shown in the photographs are temporary placeholders; my finished product cards are currently in production and will be used for the market display.

RELIC features handmade necklaces, bracelets, and earrings created through an eclectic combination of natural gemstones, freshwater pearls, shell, glass, ceramic and carved beads, metal charms, and chains. Gemstones used throughout the collection include turquoise, lapis lazuli, carnelian, agate, jasper, quartz, aventurine, opalite, yellow tourmaline, onyx, and other semi-precious stones, often combined with freshwater pearls and colorful glass and heishi-style beads. Metal components vary by piece and include gold-filled elements, sterling silver, brass, gold-plated brass, and gold-finished stainless steel.

The collection draws inspiration from ancient Greek and Mesopotamian jewelry and material culture, particularly their use of richly colored stones, symbolic forms, and combinations of varied materials. I reinterpret these influences in a contemporary and playful way, incorporating carved forms, shell motifs, charms, and vintage glass beads. The result ranges from delicate chain necklaces and gemstone earrings to colorful layered necklaces, charm bracelets, and statement pieces. Because the components are individually selected and combined, many designs are one-of-a-kind or produced only in small variations.

I plan to bring approximately 200 pieces across necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, with a retail price range of approximately $20-$80. Earrings and smaller pieces will provide more accessible gift options, while more elaborate statement necklaces incorporating sterling silver, hand carved and semi-precious stones will fall toward the upper end of the range.
