Birdeye Farm

My name is Whit Smith, and I ran this small market farm based in Birdeye, Arkansas when I was in high school. I grew vegetables and fruits and sold them to many different people in northeastern Arkansas, as well as to local restaurants, such as The Parsonage in Jonesboro. Though I was not certified organic, I followed, and still follow, organic practices: no chemical fertilizers nor herbicides, and only pesticides that are organic. Being back from college this summer, I decided to grow heirloom watermelons and cantaloupes, and currently have a healthy patch of 300 plants which will start producing the last week of July. I will be harvesting to sell to market through August.
