"The Birds", Original Lithograph by Raoul Dufy (1965)

Description

Original lithograph of Raoul Dufy's watercolor printed on vellum Arjomari (paper created after the merger of the 4 major paper manufactures in France) by Mourlot Freres in 1965 for Marcelle Oury's, "Lettre à mon Peintre". This collection included 27 lithographs including various tributes to Dufy from artists, such as George Braque and Marc Chagall.

Raoul Dufy was a French Fauvist painter. He developed a colorful, decorative style that became fashionable for designers of ceramics and textiles, as well as decorative schemes for public buildings. He is noted for scenes of open-air social events. Dufy's cheerful oils and watercolors depict events of the time period, including yachting scenes, views of the French Riviera, chic parties, and musical events.
