The Hand Sown Posy

Our great-grandfather believed nature is for everyone. So much so, that he led a free hike club in Washington D.C. No dues. No commitments. No experience needed. And in the early 1900s, from the cramped quarters of row homes, to the lavish mansions of the city, hundreds showed up. 

His hiking led him to the homeplace...here in the Shenandoah Valley. Now, four generations later, we're continuing his legacy: nature is for everyone.

Our mission is to revive the enjoyment of nature in all of life through flowers. Our blooms are as much for the kitchen table as they are for the most lavish wedding party. We offer a range of options sized and priced so that on your worst or best day…you turn to a cheery posy before chocolate, coffee, or your favorite wine or beer. Save your body, feed your soul.

We’re a small, hand-sown cut flower farm in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. This land’s most notable features are its ridges and views, and while The Hand Sown Posy prides itself on being surrounded by just that, we want to highlight the small and often unseen aspects of this space. The seeds we plant are intentionally selected to connect you with the land itself. Cultivating heirloom flowers and blooms native to this breathtaking scene is what makes us unique. Foliage and structural greenery is hand picked and foraged from our property to make each Shenandoah-inspired posy.
