Montgomery Elementary School Garden

Our school garden is a hands-on learning experience that brings students, sustainability, and community together. Each grade level participates in planting, watering, and weeding as we grow organic lettuce for sale. Students learn the importance of environmental stewardship by using collected rainwater from our rain barrel and growing produce without the use of pesticides or chemicals.
The garden also supports real-world learning opportunities. Third grade students harvest and sell the lettuce as part of their economics curriculum, gaining firsthand experience with entrepreneurship, responsibility, communication, and teamwork. All proceeds from lettuce sales are reinvested directly back into the garden to maintain tools, supplies, and resources so future students can continue learning and growing for years to come.
