Fat Cat Cookies and Cakes
Vendor
I am a cottage baker specializing in cookie art and cookies. I started this journey last year during the COVID-19 pandemic at the behest of my boyfriend’s mom. I have dysautonomia which is a medical condition that affects the communication between my brain and my body so finding full time employment can be challenging since my heart rate can go through the roof. I also have congenital heart defects that cause daily problems. Baking has helped me with many of the anxieties of these conditions. I have baked my entire life starting in the kitchen with my grandma and my mom. My grandma was the one who had amazing German recipes and my mom used to win prizes at the local fair for her wedding cakes. She won so often they eventually retired the category. I have learned many of my baking skills from them. I went to a magnet art school for high school and have used my artistic talents in drawing and creativity in my cookies as well. I recently graduated from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in psychology but unfortunately am unable to find employment at this time because of the pandemic. Cookies have been a great business for me to start and something I can continue to watch grow. With finding local farming sources for my ingredients, I will be able to be about 90% locally sourced. I look forward to working with the Portland Farmers Market and increasing my customer base as well as supporting the mission and values of the Portland Farmer Market.
