It's a balmy afternoon in the lower end of Manhattan, and you're on a leisurely stroll when your olfactory senses pick up an amazing whiff of sautéed garlic and no sooner than you identify that wonderful aroma, you stomach announces loudly that lunch is imperative. Picking up the pace decidedly you turn a corner and find the source of your seduction- an out the way café with crusty, hot loaves of Mushroom, Onion, Garlic and smoked Gouda cheese bread being pulled from the oven and swiftly being converted into perhaps the best Roast Beef with Au Jus you've ever had. Lunch requirements more than satisfied- more like; blown away in sheer, exquisite joy of palette.
We highly recommend a grilled Steak or Chicken sandwich with this loaf. That, or a Portobello Gouda Grilled Cheese paired with a glass of your favorite white wine...
