MicroWorks Employment and Training Services, Inc. - MicroWorksStudio

MicroWorks Employment and Training Services, Inc. is a Detroit-based workforce development organization and the parent company of MicroWorks Studio, its year-round, work-based learning program. Through MicroWorks Studio, youth ages 16–24 are engaged in hands-on training that blends entrepreneurship, product development, and real-world business experience. Together, the organization and its studio model create a pathway for young people to build practical skills while contributing to a growing, community-centered brand.

MicroWorks Studio produces handcrafted home and body care products made in small batches with a focus on quality, simplicity, and intentional living. The product line includes clean home fragrances, laundry care essentials, and self-care items designed to bring comfort, freshness, and ease into everyday routines. Each product reflects both craftsmanship and purpose—serving as a tangible outcome of the youth training experience.

Funded by the City of Detroit, Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation, the program operates year-round and includes an expanded six-week summer employment component for Detroit youth. During this time, selected participants work in person to produce, package, and sell products in live marketplace settings, gaining hands-on experience in customer service, sales, and business operations. At the same time, a larger group of youth participates virtually, supporting product development, branding, and e-commerce efforts through platforms such as Etsy and the company's website.

Participation in marketplaces such as Eastern Market will provide an opportunity for youth to apply their skills in a real-world environment—building confidence, strengthening workforce readiness, and earning income while representing a Detroit-rooted brand. MicroWorks is committed to creating both high-quality products and meaningful economic opportunities, connecting training, entrepreneurship, and community impact to support the next generation of leaders.
