My name is Maurice E. Jones. I'm a Award-Winning Author, Executive Chef, Poet, Writer, Mentor, and Entrepreneur. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and a proud product of Detroit Public Schools. I'm a long time Chef working at some of the finest Restaurants, Schools & Hotels throughout Metro Detroit. From The Dearborn Inn Marriott, Sheraton Novi, Cranbrook Schools, Compass Group Foodservice, Opus One Restaurant and Morels Michigan Bistro. I've been a part of Horizon Upward Bound(HUB), Leaders Who Care, Southfield H.S. Mentorship, & Mentorship Program @ Breithaupt Career Center. I support The Children's Hospital of Michigan, Breast Cancer Awareness, American Heart Association, Domestic Violence Awareness, VA Hospital of Michigan and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. My Children Book, What Can I Be? I Can Be Anything! was awarded the 2024 International Impact Book Award - Best History or Cultural Education, 2025 American Writing Award Best Historical Education, 2025 Positive Impact Award-Best Children's Literature, 2025 Positive Impact Empowerment Award, 2025 Storytrade Book Award-Best Nonfiction Children/Middle Grade. I have been acknowledged for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry by the International Society Poets.
