Skipper Otto

Skipper Otto is a community-supported fishery dedicated to providing wild, sustainably caught seafood from local fishing families in BC to Canadians. Sonia and Shaun Strobel created Skipper Otto in 2008 to support small-scale, independent fishing families in coastal and Indigenous communities. We now support about 45 small-scale independent harvesters in BC, Nunavut, and Saskatchewan. We offer a yearly subscription-based membership where members commit upfront to a share of the catch. They then use their credit to purchase seafood throughout the year. Some of the species we offer include Albacore tuna, halibut, lingcod, sockeye salmon, Dungeness crab and the list goes on! We also sell items to new members interested in joining so they can try out our seafood before committing.
