Detroit Kids Matter is a brand that was created in June of 2020 by two Detroit educators. The brand was inspired by and for Detroit children and was created with love and care to advance the highly intellectual Detroit youth. We sell a variety of items such as clothing, accessories and drink drinkware and we use proceeds to give back through a direct-to-consumer (in this case direct-to-children) strategy. Our proceeds are used to directly support Detroit youth through monetary donations given to local youth organizations, through youth programming and through scholarship funding.
Both current educators/employees in the city of Detroit.
Lexis Zeidan is celebrating her 8th year in the education field. She was born and raised in Dearborn, MI. and currently resides in Detroit. After graduating from Fordson High School she went on to get her undergraduate degree from MSU majoring in communications and public relations and went on to get her graduate degree from the University of Michigan in Educational Leadership and Policy and currently pursuing her MBA at Michigan Ross. She is an active member in her community currently working for Teach For America- Detroit where she manages recruitment and matriculation of the alumni fellowship programming. She is also a board member for The Detroit Collective- an organization seeking to excel alumni of color in the city.
Dayna Peoples is celebrating her 10th year in the education field. She was born, raised and currently resides in the city of Detroit. After graduating from Cass Technical HS, she received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Wayne State University. She is a proud mother of one who is passionate about education and instilling core values in all young people she has the pleasure of encountering. She is an active member in her community and holds a position on the board of the Minority Freedom Community Fund.
