Description
These small coffee mugs / tea cups were hand-thrown on a pottery wheel, carefully brushed on 4 layers of white-coloured slip and then hand-carved with traditional floral patterns (in this case, lotus, cherry blossoms and water lily) before glazing and firing. Each mug is roughly 150ml in volume. Because celadon is a crackle glaze, dark tenmoku glaze is used for the interior of the mug. The transition on the rim offers a much softer tone as a result of the two glazes.
