The farm basket

We are two flower farmers who have created the farm basket, a 3 acre flower farm located on the traditional territory of the Katzie First Nation and Kwantlen First Nation (maple ridge) on a third generation family farm.

The farm basket started from a love of working with our hands and being outside, and a deep appreciation for flowers that feel alive, imperfect, and truly seasonal. What began as a small planting has grown into a farm rooted in thoughtful growing and intentional harvests.

We are passionate about supporting our local economy and environment though planting native flowers and only using natural farming practices. It is important to us to share the knowledge and beauty that we have grown by hiring students in the busy summer months. Although we are not yet organic certified, we are proud to make all our own compost and fertilizer from the animals on our farm.

We specialize in seasonally grown flowers handpicked to showcase the beauty of each season. We are proud to offer the following:

1) Market bouquets, in sizes small, medium and large. 2) Seasonal single flower bunches (ex; sunflowers, dahlias, snapdragons, ect)3) Fall offered specialty dahlia tubers and ranunculus/ anemone corms.

After years of working in the high stress industry I begin to lose my purpose. Life was dull. One May a few years ago I threw some seeds in a dusty garden bed. Those few seeds became a lifeline for me. Those seeds started a road side flower stand, and brought the color back into my life. Over the past few years we expanded from those few dusty garden boxes to a full on flower farm with 6 green houses. We serve florists, DYI brides and anyone who just needs more flowers in their life. This past summer both myself and my partner decided to take the risk and farm full time. It is my life’s purpose to bring the same light and color that I found from those first few dusty garden beds into everyone’s life that buy from us. My love for our community runs deep, and it would be an honor to be chosen to sell my flowers.
