About

Buck & Bloom Cheese Co. is a group of artisan cheesemakers in Buena Vista, CO. Established in July 2025, we hand craft both cow and goat cheeses at our creamery. This includes fresh cheese like chevre and fromage blanc, bloomy cheeses like Camembert-style, and cave-aged cheeses like Hatch Pepperjack, our Alpine-style "Highland", cheddar, and other new and creative creamery originals. Our mission is to bring quality, delicious, ethically produced cheeses to our home state of Colorado while directly supporting small dairy producers, thus strengthening the local food scene and bolstering sustainable Colorado agriculture.

While raising our own young herd of dairy goats who are not yet producing milk, we source our A2 cow milk and goat milk from two different small independent family farms in Colorado. The cow milk comes from Colorado Cow LLC in Fort Lupton, Colorado, from a beautiful herd of heritage A2 Guernsey cows. Our goat milk comes from Yoder Family Farm in Trinidad, Colorado, from a healthy and vivacious herd of Alpine dairy goats. We plan to continue working with these farmers even after we have goat milk produced here on our farm.

These are producers that we know, admire, and trust with their animal husbandry practices and high standards. We frequent their farms and see firsthand how their animals are cared for and what they are fed. Because there are no established dairy producers close to us here in Buena Vista, and our production is of sizeable scale, we source from these family farms in Colorado who have excellent practices and are happy to partner with a reliable customer. That means picking up fresh milk from their parlors each week, hauling the milk back to our facility, and pasteurizing right away, ensuring fresh and delicious product coming from our creamery.

We are Colorado's newest artisan cheesemakers in a state where dairying is not mainstream and tends to lack resources for farmers and adjacent food producers. By working directly with farmers and selling cheeses directly to fellow Coloradan's, we are committed to strengthening the dairy scene in Colorado.

We are also aware that Lazy Ewe sells at the Crested Butte Farmers Market and have great respect for their farmstead operation. If we have competing products including our Chevre and aged goat cheese, we would be happy to omit those from our product line in CB and stick strictly to A2 cow's milk products.
