Raise The Burr Sharpening
Vendor
Raise The Burr Sharpening is a mobile, professional sharpening service based in the Pittsburgh area. We provide on-site, same-day sharpening for home cooks, gardeners, and working professionals, focused on kitchen cutlery, serrated knives, scissors (including fabric/sewing), and select garden tools.
Our service is designed for busy markets: guests drop off at arrival, shop the market, and pick up on the way out. In steady conditions, we can typically complete a standard set of ~6–8 kitchen knives within ~5–10 minutes total (condition-dependent) using a controlled workflow and clear queue management.
Safety-first setup (family-friendly and controlled)
We operate with strict public-safety controls to keep the work area secure and the customer experience simple:
Controlled 10′×10′ enclosed booth with mesh sides + solid back wall
42″ elevated front counter + front crossbar barrier to prevent reach-ins
Staff-only access behind the barrier—no public access to equipment at any time
Clear signage including “18+ to purchase services” and a visible price list
Secure handoff / no open-carry approach: items are returned in a cardstock sheath, then rewrapped in the customer’s towel/bag and secured (no loose blades handed back)
Power, cleanliness, and footprint
We run on a silent battery power station (no fuel, no fumes, no generator noise). Any necessary cord runs remain inside our footprint, secured and managed—never across public walkways. We maintain a clean, professional booth presentation with all branding and displays contained within our space.
Reliability + commitment
Consistency is a cornerstone of our model—customers remember “bring your knives next to the next market day,” and a dependable schedule keeps things simple for everyone. We are prepared to commit to a weekly presence for the Farmers Market season, and we understand/accept operational requirements (including market rules, setup standards, and reporting).
Insurance + documentation
We carry general liability coverage meeting requirements and can provide a COI naming the required entity as Additional Insured per the application rules.
