We sell premium, naturally tanned, super soft, durable and washable sheep and goat hides. We also offer sheep and goat hide natural tanning services for other farmers and anyone that raises these animals (braintan.com/sheep) Additionally, we like to empower small sheep farmers to tan their own hides by teaching instructional courses for anyone interested in learning how to do it themselves.

About Us

Traditional Tanners is an all-natural tannery based in Ashland, Oregon that is focused on utilizing premium natural ingredients, providing the highest quality products and services, and reducing waste. We are the only certified organic tannery in the US.

Matt and Michelle Richards, owners and operators of Traditional Tanners, have over 35 years of experience in natural tanning methods. They work to re-popularize traditional, natural tanning methods that use plant tannins, woodsmoke, alum, and natural oils to help accelerate the tanning industry's transition away from chrome and other toxic chemicals. They also work with established tanneries to help them transition away from chemicals.
