About
Matt’s Micros was created with the intent of doing good for the community. In 2020, Matthew Behunek decided he wanted to help his fellow Floridians during the Coronavirus crisis; Knowing people needed fresh food but were at risk shopping, Matthew decided to bring fresh produce directly to peoples doorstep. 12 years of hydroponics experience and prior work as a farm manager gave Matthew the knowledge and skill necessary to make the high-quality Microgreens available to you today. With the pandemic restrictions easing, Matthew would now like to begin introducing his products hyper-locally at the regions Farmer's Markets.
Matthew grows everything to the highest standard possible in a indoor, controlled environment. To achieve optimal flavor organic nutrients and coco-choir are used to cultivate these greens. Furthermore we are dedicated to protecting the environment: Our clamshells are compostable* and the plastic is made from corn. Additionally, our delivery vehicle is powered by E-85 Flex Fuel, meaning, it is 85% plant based fuel (Ethanol).
*Compostable at many commercial\county composting facilities.

Production Practices
Integrated Pest Management Extended Growing Season Permaculture Design Use Only Organic Materials
Our Microgreens are grown in a hyper-sanitary indoor environment. We control the temperature, humidity, and light for consistently high quality products. We filter our water and use all natural ocean minerals to fertilize the microgreens on a substrate of organic (& sustainable) coco coir. The crops are grown under LED lights that reduce power consumption and transported using our biofuel powered delivery truck. The indoor grow environment limits exposure to pests and reduces water loss due to evaporation. Our IPM utilizes all natural food grade hydrogen peroxide as an added measure to keep our produce clean healthy. GAP practices are used to treat all grow trays and equipment to maintain cleanliness in every point of contact.
Our packaging is made from bioplastic (corn based) and the product is harvested fresh to order.
