Tagge's Famous Fruit and Veggie Farms
Vendor
Tagge’s Famous Fruit and Veggie Farms is owned by Thayne (CFO Chief Farming Officer) and Cari (CEO Chief Energy Officer) Tagge. Cari and Thayne started their business selling Bear Lake raspberries in the Salt Lake valley. The business began as a part-time venture with Thayne taking time off as a CPA at KMPG during the harvest season for a few weeks to sell. As the produce selection grew beyond raspberries, Thayne quit his job and they bought their first 38 acre orchard in 1997 and renamed their company to Tagge’s Famous Fruit & Veggie Farms.
Currently they own 80 acres of orchards broken into small parcels in Perry, Willard, Corrinne and Huntsville. They lease an additional 53 acres for row crops. They enjoy laboring on the 133 acres where they have 32 varieties of peaches on 40 acres, 8 acres of berries, 8 acres cherries, 6 acres apricots, 2 acres nectarines, 2 acres white and donut peaches, 2 acres plums, 6 acres apples, 6 acres tomatoes, 15 acres of pumpkins and squash. Don’t forget 38 acres of Utah sweet corn.
The Tagge’s are a first-generation farming family and throughout the years they have worked hard to improve yields while decreasing water usage. They are passionate about preserving land for farming and continue to look for land to acquire. Learning to farm has been bittersweet. It is hard work and requires 80 plus hours a week during the harvest from June through October. During the summer/fall the Tagge’s have 7 daily fruit stands and attend 22 farmer’s markets, with over 150 employees to manage and nurture. Cari and Thayne understand the value of farm-to-table and work hard to continue farming in Utah. They enjoy literally seeing the fruits of their labors as they bring fresh fruit and vegetables to the community along the Wasatch Front.
