About

Iron & Earth Bio:

Mission
Iron & Earth delivers programs that enable community-driven climate solutions and reduce barriers for those seeking a future in the green economy.

Vision
Iron & Earth is working toward a future where the workforce is dynamically engaged in a thriving green economy. We envision broad participation in the Just Transition, leading to strengthened economic and climate resilience, expanded Accessibility to sustainable energy solutions and meaningful careers.

Our vision extends beyond workforce mobilizationtofostera community-driven transformation, where people actively contribute to a sustainable and equitable future, for their communities and the planet. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals Implementation Strategy, we believe that “economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development are mutually reinforcing.

Community Talks Initiative & 2025 Dotmocracy Project
As part of Iron & Earth’s ongoing effort to empower workers and communities to play an active role in the energy transition, the Community Talks Initiative was created to foster deep, meaningful conversations that go beyond one-time consultations. At the heart of this initiative is a consent- and agency-based approach rooted in social justice and community trust. We prioritize the voices of the most vulnerable, value lived experience as expertise, and embrace a desire-based framework that uplifts what communities are already doing well.
The 2025 Dotmocracy Project is the next step in this process. Over 2023 and 2024, we hosted three sessions in Surrey where community members shared their insights on climate change, extreme weather, preparedness, and potential solutions. The goal now is to validate and refine those community-identified priorities through dotmocracy booths—interactive spaces where you can vote on ideas and confirm whether earlier findings still reflect current perspectives.
Our booth features an interactive Dotmocracy board with four key community statements for community members to vote on created directly from our session findings:
Easy access to subsidized air-conditioning units
Functional and safe pedestrian infrastructure
Every workplace has a responsibility to act more sustainably
Community ownership of new solar energy systems
To make your experience even more welcoming, we’ll have fun giveaways like recycled-material tumblers and hats, plus Biolite lanterns for participating community members. Families are encouraged to join—children can enjoy coloring books, crayons, stickers, and a space that’s both playful and inclusive.
We’re also sharing condensed two-page summaries of each of our previous sessions, packed with insights and community perspectives. Our team has been trained to be warm, caring, and neutral—ensuring that every visitor, young or old, feels welcomed, respected, and heard.
The goal is simple: to create a space where your voice matters and where community-driven solutions take center stage
