About

Osprey Hill is an organically grown, family farm that's taking big steps towards sustainability. We've been farming in Skagit and Whatcom Counties for over 20 years and we've grown hundreds of different crops, but regenerative livestock systems are our passion and pastured poultry items have emerged as our primary products. We're committed to helping stoke the local economy and so we source our most significant inputs within Washington state including our chicks and our NO corn No soy verified NO GMO feed. Our farm is served by the pristine waters of the Nooksack River and we take every precaution to preserve the quality and quantity of our water supply. In 2014, we opened a sister business, Saxon Meatsmiths, which is a state licensed poultry processing facility that serves our farm and other farms and homesteaders in the region. Our sister business is built from reclaimed and recycled materials and the water that we use during processing is returned to the pasture to enrich and sustain the grass that provides for our livestock. Most of the livestock organ meat is packaged for sale, but the unusable offal from processing is heated and broken down over the course of a year in our compost facility and is used to ammend our garden soil for the few field crops that we grow. We continually strive to close loops in our systems and reduce our farming footprint.

Geoff & Anna met in Seattle in the mid 90s while studying for degrees in biology. The National Organic Program was being birthed at the time and the first set of organic standards were being negotiated by stakeholders. This was big news at the time and it sparked a curiosity in us about food production as well as it fueled a fire around injustices in the system. We grew our first garden in what was supposed to be our parking spot on 3rd Avenue in Freemont. Our curiosity grew into an obsession and it spawned a career in farming. With a lot of learn-on-the fly and DIY enthusiasm, we raised three kids and taught ourselves how to farm over the course of 20 years. We've participated in several farmers markets, wholesale markets, and CSA collaborations in that time and have held numerous volunteer positions in farm and non-farm related organizations including the Bellingham Farmers Market, Nooksack Valley Farmers Coop, Puget Sound Food Hub, Three Rivers Educational Coop, Friends of the Nooksack/Samish Watersheds, the Whatcom County Agriculture Advisory Committee, and the Special Olympics of Washington.
