I’m David Quinley (Quin). I started making pots in the Chicago area when I was 21. After moving to Kentucky,, I lived as a studio potter for three years. I then enrolled at Berea College and completed my degree. I met my wife at a contra dance in Berea. After getting married we earned our Masters Degrees at the University of Cincinnati. We then made a huge move out West to Utah and then Idaho in order to teach deaf students. I did keep up somewhat with my pottery, but teaching English and becoming a father took up most of my time.
I never thought that I’d get another chance at striking out as a studio potter again at my age. But, now that I’m retired, I’m right back at it. I love watching birds, and that’s what steered me towards making bird feeders. I get an endless enjoyment sitting on my deck and watching different species of birds eating off my feeders.
