Break-A-Whey is an all natural, high protein, low-fat, low sugar frozen yogurt. It is manufactured near Saugatuck Michigan, although I am located in southeast Michigan. It is currently manufactured as a soft serve, an 18 Oz retail size, and I am currently working on a ice cream sandwich.
This has been about a 5-year project for me with some success in grocery stores but not as much as I was hoping. I have reinvented the concept A couple of times, and I'm continuing the process with creating this new ice cream sandwich. The overall goal for the company is to have a franchise system that is a version of Dairy Queen , but focuses unhealthy high protein soft serve, as well as a retail store presents with grab-and-go products such as pints and things like this new ice cream sandwich I'm developing. Overall, I believe the Eastern Market would expose my concept two more people than I already have and be a great launching pad for the brand.
Break-A-Whey is currently produced at a dairy facility in Fennville Michigan which is near Saugatuck. The facility has been in business for about 35 years and is kosher certified. If everything works with the ice cream sandwich concept it will be produced in southeast Michigan most likely in Ferndale.
For most of my life I have been in business for myself. I've opened my first restaurant about a year-and-a-half out of college and have owned 6 different concepts through the years. I developed the concept of Break-A-Whey at the last business I owned which was a corporate dining concept under contract with Magna International. One of my life's goals has always been to create my own brand of product, fell through the years I was not able to focus on the right product. Now with Break-A-Whey, I am determined to make this idea and concept successful.
