Sweetpea’s exists to help more people access delicious and nutritious locally and ethically grown food. Jared (Mexican-American) and Kayla (Irish-American) are queer farmers who believe that all of our communities deserve access to local, sustainable, highly nutritious foods.
We grow microgreens in our indoor vertical farm using high quality, non-GMO seeds and locally sourced organic soil. We feed our crops mealworm frass and earthworm castings from our in house bug farm. Our chickens and earthworms eat the root mats from our crops after harvest so nothing goes to waste! We clean our seeds with diluted food grade hydrogen peroxide and follow strict protocols to keep our crops clean, happy and healthy. We do not use any animal or harmful chemical products in our indoor farm. We currently grow our own Huazontle and calendula seeds and we hope to grow more of our own seeds in the future as well.
